What’s up guys? Its back to school week @ Maryland and here’s wishing everyone a ridiculously amazing semester!

In this week’s set, I have explored songs with focus on melody. Trance does not always have to be loud high tempo beats and there is more to it than that.

Here’s the track list for this week’s set:

1. Middledistancerunner (DC remix)- Chicane feat. Adam Young

2. La gomera (cressida remix)- Steve Brian

3. Absolute reality (arty remix)- Reverse

4. Swim- Caribou

5. Universal Universe- Ilaya Soloviev

6. Right back- Yuri Kane

7. Utopia (arty remix)- Tritonal

8. Phazing (Norman Dooray)- Rudy feat. Dirty South

9. On a good day (Above & Beyond club mix)- Above & Beyond

10. Surrender (Arty remix)- Sequentia

11. Starring at the sea (Masound Remix) – DJ Eco presents Pacheco

12. Solid globe- North Pole

13. Another way (club mix) – Paul Van Dyk

14. Surreal – Markus schultz feat Ana Criado

Crank it up!

My pic of songs from this set is Sun by Caribou and Middledistancerunner (disco citizens rework) by Chicane feat Adam young. You gotto check out this song, Above & Beyond presents Oceanlab- On the Beach (Andy Duguid Remix). Its got an amazing melodic tune which really makes you want to go to the beach

Till next time, be fly and have a great semester,
Rohit

What’s up guys? Hope you had a memorable July/ pre August and are all set to finish off summer on a high note! I took some time off last month to travel with my family and had a blast. From watching fireworks at the mall, to experiencing the strength of nature at Niagara Falls: each and every place left a unique vibe in me that gave me the inspiration to put together the future sets you will be hearing in the coming weeks.

Alrighty, lets get things started. There was a tragic incident at Love Parade festival which took place in Germany last month. There was a stampede as folks were trying to get into the event. About 20 innocent lives were lost and many were feared injured. This is unfortunate and hope organizers of future concerts/ events take note of this. My prayers go to the families who lost their loved ones.

I got a request to mix the song, My Guru- Jack Johnson with a hip-hop song. Even though, hip-hop is not my forte, I was down for it. I did a mashup of the song, My Guru( infused some good house in it “-”) and it is the first track in this weeks mix. Let me know what you guys think about the mashup?

Also, adding to the excitement for this weeks set, is our guest DJ, Phil Minnick. Phil’s 30 minute set is featured in second half of this set. I met Phil at Winter Music conference which took place in Miami earlier this year. Its crazy that we were living in the same room in the same hostel for the Winter Music conference and six months later, we started working on our own dj sets. Feel free to check out his mixes at http://www.facebook.com/DJ.Phil.Minnick

Crank that volume up!

Track list:

1. Indian classical meets techno feat hiphop (My Guru vs One vs Airplanes) (Rohit Bangera fun mashup)- Jack Johnson vs SHM vs B.O.B & Eminem feat Hayley Williams

2. Alpha state- Markus Schultz

3. Feels like a prayer (Bart Cleassen dub)- Meck feat Dino

4. Alpha baguera- Steve Angello

5. Not going home (Armin Van Buuren remix)- Faithless

6. They need us (club edit)- Arnej

7. Century- Tiesto feat Calvin harris

8. Ramsterdam (Original mix)- Ram

DJ Phil Minnick’s intro and tracklist below (for second half on this week’s set):

9. Communication – Armin Van Buuren

10. For an Angel(PVD’s E-werk club mix)-Paul Van Dyk

11. Nothing but you (PVD club mix)- Paul Van Dyk

12. Barber’s Adagio For Strings (Ferry Corsten Remix)- William Orbit

13. Zocalo- Armin van Buuren

14. Avenue- Paul Van Dyk

15. Natural Blues ( Perfecto Remix by Paul Oakenfold & Steve Osborne)- Moby

My favorite track of this weeks set is a tie between Alpha Baguera- Steve Angello & Not going home (Armin Van Buuren mix)- Faithless. My top track from Phil Minnick’s set has to be the classic: Barber’s Adagio For Strings (Ferry Corsten Remix)- William Orbit

My pick for this weeks club banger is Sander Van Droon presents Purple Haze – Hymn 2.0. It is an insanely amazing track and the video is a sneak peak into the life of first rate DJ . Check out the 90 second preview of pure awesomeness and euphoria!

and here’s the cheesy version for the chikkas..quite frankly a waste of technology on the video

(the bass is too high on the audio :( )

Till next time, be cool and happy August!

It was extremely difficult to pick my favorite song of this set, but I would have to make a tie between Humanoid by Jochen Miller, Natural (Aaron Camz Remix) by Mark Junior and Black is the new Yellow (Original mix)- Super 8 & Tab feat Anton Sonin. The tracks mentioned above are amazing, have a unique vibe and are beautiful compositions.

I had to upload my first mix again (reset all settings) on the soundcloud server due to technical issues. Sorry if you could not check it out in the last few days. It is up and running (http://www.routeoneforlife.com/2010/06/in-the-mix-1-june-16-2010/). As always if you have a track which you would like to be featured in the next mix, please email me the track name, artist name at rohitbangera@gmail.com.

Last but not least, I want to share with you a club banger. The new single Feels like a prayer (Michael woods remix) by Meck feat Dino released under Toolroomrecords is insanely amazing. The video is slick but like all youtube videos ends abruptly

Till next time, be fly and wish you a happy 4th of July

Goodbye & Good Riddance Santa Fe

Saturday, May 22nd, 2010

Santa_Fe_cafeTonight will be the last time Santa Fe cafe will be open to the public. It is a crazy feeling which is hard to digest. I cannot imagine walking past an empty deserted Santa Fe (or popularly known as Fe) on a Thursday night. We have all had some memories at Fe. That first shot, the hot girl who you could not take your eyes off, bumping into an old friend etc. Fe was kind of a home away from home for me. I used to go to Fe literally every night as I was friends with most of the folks who worked at Fe. We used to have fun conversations and my indian accent did not help either. My awesome memory of Fe was the night I hung out Mark Srour, owner of Santa Fe, Mark and Cornerstone. Its funny as I bought him a drink at his own bar at Le Mark.He laughed at it and we went bar hopping from there to Fe and Cornerstone. We spoke about life and the vision he had for Fe. It is crazy to think, I hung out and drank with the owner of three bars in College Park but that is just how random my life is.

It is a fairytale ending for folks who worked at Fe in their senior year and are graduating.Fe will always be special for me for the people who ran it and the awesome memories. What’s your awesome/ funny memory of Fe been?

Spring Break Blues

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

With just a few days left for Spring break to begin and the weather being fabulous, everyone is eager to get started on the best week of the semester, Spring break. Yes, it is that time of the year where you get to party in a tropical paradise, dress up like a jersey shore wannabe and show off your Miami abs. Well, there is more to Spring break than partying. If you have not made up your Spring break plans yet, here are some last minute pointers:

1. Road trips: Road trips can be an enjoyable way to spend quality time with a select few friends while enjoying the diversity and variety of different towns you pass by. It is cheap on the wallet too and extremely fun.

2. Last minute deals on cruises/ exotic getaways: It is going to be difficult to find a deal now. However, (more…)

chipotle

Maybe you crave extra cheese.  Perhaps you can’t live without shredded barbacoa.  Whatever the case, Chipotle could easily be considered a corner staple of the average UMD student’s diet.  As I enjoy my delectable burrito bowl, garnished with heaps of chicken, rice, corn, mild salsa, e maize, I can’t help but wonder if Chipotle isn’t just satisfying my hunger, but also teaching me a valued lesson about my own personality and relationships.  You know, that Freudian stuff that you might learn in PSYC100, without the heavy textbook and possibly monotone professor.  Bizarre to the mind at first, but if you really think about it, you could subconsciously learn a thing or two about yourself in between every bite.

Let us begin. (more…)
